Oregano
Oregano is a spice that tastes aromatic, hot and a little bitter, and is one of the favorite spices in Israeli cuisine. It came to us from Italian cuisine and is also common in Mediterranean cuisine. Oregano is used for a fragrant, uniquely flavored seasoning that enriches casserole dishes, soups, sauces and pastries. It is considered as an obligatory seasoning when it comes to grilled vegetables, tomato sauces, pastas, lasagna, pizza, grilled meats, pickled olives and capers and is also suitable for spicy foods. It can be used as fresh leaves and even when dried.
