Maltodextrin
Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide, produced by the breakdown of starch and is used as a common food additive in processed foods. It is used as an artificial sweetener and its sweetness varies, depending on its production method. Most often, maltodextrin is produced by means of a hydrolysis (a chemical process) from potato or corn starch. It is used for making soft drinks, pastries, sweets and is found in various sorts of processed foods. Additionally, it is used as a thickener for various food products, including baby formulas.
